Anonymous: i have a nikon d5100 what do you recommend lens wise for that? a 55mm???

It all depends on what you’re doing but if you’re interested in getting pictures like my live music photos, go for a lens like the Nikkor 50mm/1.8. I used the Sony version of this lens.

Anonymous: any of your pictures. the ones on your flickr of owl city and action item are so clear how did you do that?

Obviously it starts with a quality camera. I use a Sony DSLR.  When I’m shooting in low light (such as a concert) I use my 1.8 50mm lens.  This is traditionally a portraiture lens because of the large aperture (the smaller the number, the larger the aperture (opening)).  It allows maximum light to come into the camera with the ability to have a fast shutter speed. Ideal for low light/live music photography. This creates sharp, well lit photographs. I hope this helps!
